Internship Description
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) is accepting applications for Articling Student positions in its Corporate group at Commerce Court West on Bay Street, Toronto. This is a paid, 10-month articling program that forms part of the licensing requirements of the Law Society of Ontario.
Program Details
- Duration: 10 months (starting August 2026)
- Compensation: Paid — competitive articling salary aligned with Bay Street market rates
- Rotations: Exposure to corporate/M&A, securities, banking, and private equity practice groups
Key Responsibilities
- Assist associates and partners with M&A due diligence, corporate governance, and securities filings
- Draft board resolutions, closing documents, and shareholders' agreements under the CBCA
- Attend client meetings, closings, and Ontario Securities Commission hearings as an observer
- Conduct legal research on corporate and securities law issues using CanLII and Westlaw Canada
- Participate in the firm's professional development program and mentorship initiatives
Eligibility
- JD or LLB candidate graduating in 2026 from a recognized Canadian law school
- Eligible for the Law Society of Ontario Licensing Process
- Strong academic record with demonstrated interest in corporate and securities law
- Previous summer or internship experience at a law firm preferred
