Rogers Group, the parent company of New Mauritius Hotels (Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels), seeks a Legal Counsel specialising in hospitality and tourism law for its Port Louis headquarters. Tourism is Mauritius's second-largest economic sector, and Beachcomber — the island's most iconic luxury hotel brand — generates substantial legal work across hotel management, real estate development, and regulatory compliance.

The Legal Counsel will handle hotel management agreements, resort development documentation, Tourism Authority licensing under the Tourism Authority Act 2006, environmental compliance under the Environment Protection Act 2002, and commercial contracts across Rogers' hospitality portfolio. The role also encompasses IRS/RES property development — the luxury villa and apartment schemes that have transformed Mauritius's coastal property market.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate hotel management agreements and resort development contracts
  • Advise on Tourism Authority licensing and compliance under the Tourism Authority Act 2006
  • Handle IRS/RES and Smart City property development documentation and sales
  • Ensure environmental compliance under the Environment Protection Act 2002 for new developments
  • Support M&A transactions in the hospitality sector including brand licensing
  • Manage guest-facing legal matters, liability issues, and insurance claims

Requirements

  • Barrister or Attorney admitted by the Mauritius Bar Council with 4–6 years' post-admission experience
  • Knowledge of the Tourism Authority Act 2006 and Mauritius hospitality sector regulations
  • Experience with hotel management agreements, property development, or real estate transactions
  • Understanding of the Environment Protection Act 2002 and EIA processes for development projects
  • Familiarity with IRS/RES property schemes and the Non-Citizens (Property Restriction) Act 1975
  • LL.B. from a recognised institution; real estate or hospitality law focus preferred
  • Bilingual English and French required
