Internship Description

Legal Intern – Energy Law at PKN Orlen

PKN Orlen, Central Europe's leading multi-energy company, offers a legal internship focused on energy law at our Warsaw corporate office on ul. Bielańska near Plac Bankowy. Following the transformative merger with Grupa Lotos and PGNiG, PKN Orlen now operates across the full energy value chain — from exploration and production through refining to retail distribution.

About the Internship

During your 3-6 month internship, you will support the in-house legal team on energy regulatory matters under Prawo energetyczne (Energy Law), environmental compliance under Prawo ochrony środowiska (Environmental Protection Law), and commercial contracts for the energy sector. Tasks include legal research on regulatory developments, assisting with URE regulatory filings, and supporting contract review for energy supply agreements.

This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in energy law at Poland's most significant energy company during a period of major transition toward renewable energy, hydrogen, and nuclear power. The legal department manages a portfolio spanning oil, gas, electricity, heat, and emerging energy technologies.

Duration & Compensation

This is a paid internship lasting 3-6 months with rolling start dates. Full-time preferred; part-time arrangements considered for students. PKN Orlen provides a competitive monthly stipend.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on energy regulatory developments (Prawo energetyczne, EU energy packages)
  • Assist with preparation of regulatory filings and submissions to URE
  • Support review of commercial contracts for energy supply and distribution
  • Help with environmental compliance analysis and permit documentation
  • Attend team meetings and gain exposure to in-house legal operations at a major energy company
  • Prepare research summaries and internal memoranda on assigned topics

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in 4th or 5th year of magister prawa studies
  • Interest in energy law, environmental law, or regulatory affairs
  • Basic knowledge of Prawo energetyczne or Prawo ochrony środowiska
  • Good research and analytical skills
  • Fluent Polish; good English for international energy regulations
  • Available for minimum 3 months

Compensation

zł3,500 - zł4,500/year
