Legal Intern — IP & Technology at AIP Law
AIP Law is offering a paid 3-month internship in its intellectual property and technology law practice in Bandar Seri Begawan. This internship is ideal for law students interested in IP protection, technology regulations, and Brunei's digital economy growth under Wawasan 2035.
What You Will Learn
- Assist with trade mark and design registration applications at the Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO)
- Research intellectual property legislation including the Trade Marks Act and the Copyright Order 1999
- Draft basic technology contracts, licence agreements, and terms of service
- Assist with IP due diligence for corporate transactions
- Learn about data protection regulation and the Computer Misuse Act (Chapter 194)
- Gain exposure to the legal needs of digital economy startups in Brunei
Duration: 3 months (paid internship — BND 700/month)
Responsibilities
- Support the IP and technology team on registration and advisory matters
- Conduct legal research on IP legislation and technology regulations
- Draft basic legal documents and attend client meetings
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a law degree programme at UBD, UNISSA, or a recognised overseas university
- Interest in intellectual property, technology law, or digital commerce
- Good research and writing skills in English
- Basic familiarity with IP concepts (trade marks, copyright, patents)
- Malay language proficiency preferred
Compensation
B$700 - B$700/year
