Internship Description
Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is offering a Summer Legal Internship at RBC Centre, 200 Bay Street, Toronto. This paid 4-month program provides law students with direct exposure to in-house legal work at Canada's largest bank, covering capital markets, commercial banking, and regulatory compliance.
Program Details
- Duration: 4 months (May - August 2026)
- Compensation: Paid — competitive summer internship salary
- Focus: In-house legal operations across Capital Markets, Wealth Management, and Technology divisions
Key Responsibilities
- Support the legal team on regulatory compliance matters related to CIRO, OSC, and OSFI requirements
- Draft contract summaries and legal research memos on banking and securities law topics
- Assist with vendor contract reviews and technology licensing agreements
- Attend internal legal team meetings and cross-functional project meetings
- Complete a summer project presented to the Chief Legal Officer at program conclusion
Eligibility
- Enrolled in a JD or LLB program at a recognized Canadian law school (2nd or 3rd year)
- Strong academic record with interest in financial services law
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Previous work experience in banking or financial services an asset
