Associate — Banking & Finance at MMAKS Advocates
MMAKS Advocates seeks an Associate for its Banking and Finance practice group. The role involves advising commercial banks, development finance institutions, and microfinance entities on lending transactions, regulatory compliance, and financial restructuring in Uganda.
This position offers the opportunity to work with major financial institutions operating in Uganda and across East Africa, with exposure to the ALN network's regional expertise.

Responsibilities
- Draft and review loan facility agreements, security documents, and guarantee instruments
- Advise on regulatory compliance with Bank of Uganda requirements
- Conduct due diligence on banking and financial transactions
- Assist in structured finance and project finance transactions
- Prepare legal opinions on banking and finance matters
- Keep abreast of developments in Uganda's financial regulatory framework
Requirements
- LLB degree from a recognized university
- Diploma in Legal Practice from LDC
- Enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda
- 3-5 years of experience in banking and finance law
- Knowledge of Bank of Uganda regulations and financial sector legislation
- Strong analytical and drafting skills
- Membership of the Uganda Law Society
Compensation
USh5,000,000 - USh8,000,000/month
