Job Description

Associate – EU Regulatory & Trade

Linklaters Brussels, located in the European Quarter, is seeking an Associate to join its EU Regulatory and International Trade practice group.

You will advise clients on EU regulatory frameworks including the Digital Markets Act (DMA), Digital Services Act (DSA), AI Act, and international trade and sanctions compliance. As the EU continues to shape global tech regulation from Brussels, this role offers unparalleled exposure to cutting-edge regulatory developments.

What You Will Do

  • Advise technology companies and multinational corporations on DMA gatekeeper obligations and DSA compliance
  • Support clients with EU AI Act classification and conformity assessments
  • Advise on EU sanctions and export control compliance frameworks
  • Draft regulatory submissions to the European Commission and national regulators
  • Monitor and advise on evolving EU legislative proposals affecting client operations

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on compliance with EU digital economy regulations
  • Draft regulatory opinions and compliance assessments
  • Prepare client responses to European Commission consultations and investigations
  • Monitor EU legislative developments and prepare client alerts
  • Coordinate with Linklaters offices globally on cross-border regulatory matters

Requirements

  • Belgian Bar admission or equivalent EU qualification
  • Master in Law; LL.M. in EU Law or International Trade Law preferred
  • 3-6 years of experience in EU regulatory, digital economy, or trade law
  • Knowledge of DMA, DSA, AI Act, GDPR, and EU sanctions frameworks
  • Fluent in English; French or Dutch is an advantage
  • Experience with EU legislative and policy processes is desirable

Compensation

€5,500 - €8,000/year
