Job Description

MinterEllison's Sydney office at Governor Macquarie Tower, 1 Farrer Place is seeking an Associate for its Insurance & Corporate Risk practice. MinterEllison is one of Australia's largest insurance law practices, and you will handle policy coverage disputes, professional indemnity claims, and regulatory matters for major insurers and underwriters.

  • Advise on insurance coverage disputes and policy interpretation under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984
  • Defend professional indemnity, D&O, and public liability claims
  • Handle AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority) external dispute resolution for insurers
  • Advise on regulatory compliance with APRA prudential standards for general insurers

Requirements

  • Admitted as a solicitor in NSW; 3-5 years PQE in insurance, disputes, or professional indemnity
  • Knowledge of the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 and Insurance Act 1973
  • Experience with AFCA processes preferred
  • Strong analytical and advocacy skills

Responsibilities

Coverage disputes; PI/D&O claims defence; AFCA resolution; APRA compliance
