Job Description

Competition & Regulatory Associate — ENSafrica Mauritius

ENSafrica Mauritius seeks an Associate Barrister or Attorney for its Competition & Regulatory practice at its Ebene Cybercity office. Mauritius's Competition Act 2007, enforced by the Competition Commission Mauritius (CCM), has matured into a rigorous merger control and antitrust enforcement regime — and ENSafrica's pan-African competition practice is the leading adviser in this space.

The Associate will handle merger notification filings with the CCM, cartel investigation defence, abuse of dominance advisory, and regulatory compliance across Mauritius's key industries including banking, telecommunications, and fast-moving consumer goods. The role provides exposure to both Mauritian competition law and cross-border merger control filings across Africa through ENSafrica's continental network.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare merger notification filings with the Competition Commission Mauritius (CCM)
  • Advise clients on competition law compliance and cartel risk assessment
  • Assist with defence in CCM investigations and enforcement proceedings
  • Research market concentration and competitive dynamics in key Mauritian sectors
  • Coordinate cross-border merger filings with ENSafrica offices across Africa
  • Draft competition law compliance manuals and training materials for corporate clients

Requirements

  • Barrister or Attorney admitted by the Mauritius Bar Council with 2–5 years' post-admission experience
  • Knowledge of the Competition Act 2007 and the Competition Commission Mauritius (CCM) procedures
  • Understanding of merger control, cartel enforcement, and abuse of dominance principles
  • Familiarity with EU and UK competition law precedents influential in Mauritius
  • Analytical skills for economic and market analysis in competition assessments
  • LL.B. from a recognised institution; competition law coursework preferred
  • English fluency required; French advantageous for francophone Africa mandates
