DSHS BHHA Lakeland – Attendant Counselor 2
Join our team as an Attendant Counselor 2 at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake, where you will play a vital role in supporting residents with developmental and behavioral health needs. In this position, you will provide hands-on care, assist with daily living activities, and help implement individualized care plans that promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing. Your work directly contributes to a safe, structured, and supportive environment where residents can build skills and maintain quality of life.

About Lakeland Village
Lakeland Village is a state-operated, 24-hour residential facility serving approximately 210 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Located in Medical Lake and established in 1914, it offers a range of services through certified Nursing Facility and Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/IID) programs. Residents receive comprehensive care that includes medical and nursing support, therapeutic programming, and individualized treatment plans designed to promote independence and quality of life in a home-like setting. Lakeland Village also offers day programs focused on sensory integration, vocational training, and recreational activities, along with short-term respite services for eligible individuals. 



Some of what you'll do:
  • Provide direct personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and monitoring daily living activities
  • Support meal preparation and service by following prescribed diets and assisting with feeding while accurately recording intake and output
  • Perform safe transfers, repositioning, and transportation of residents using proper equipment and infection control precautions
  • Monitor, observe, and report changes in residents’ physical, behavioral, and medical conditions, including completing incident reports as required
  • Implement and support individualized care plans, collecting and documenting data to promote resident independence and skill development
  • Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to support care planning, services, and overall resident wellbeing
  • Assist with daily operations, including transporting residents to appointments/activities, light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining supplies
  • Serve as relief charge staff as needed by supporting team coordination, assigning tasks, and ensuring continuity of care

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with residents, families, and team members
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and reliability in a structured care environment
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to support resident-centered care
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Adapt to changing needs, including working weekends, holidays, and extended hours with short notice
  • Effectively engage and support individuals with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, or behavioral health challenges
  • Read, understand, and consistently apply policies, procedures, and care plans

Who should apply?
We are searching for professionals who meet one of the following:
  • High school diploma or GED and one year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, or mental health challenges
    OR
  • One year of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1 or in an equivalent or higher-level state classification

Additional information:
  • Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
  • Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.
