involves the supervision and training of staff and the day-to-day oversight of the processing and arraignment of cases in the District Attorney’s Office.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: - Train newly hired and promoted Assistant District Attorneys, DAT Writers, and Legal Writers in case processing, interviewing witnesses, case file preparation, and proper courtroom practices and procedures. - Supervise the daily operation of ECAB, which includes the Complaint Room, DAT Unit, and Arraignment parts, with a focus on ensuring that arrest matters are drafted and arraigned within the mandated twenty-four (24) hour time period. - Examine and review legal issues that constantly arise with respect to arrest matters and make decisions on the prosecution of these arrest matters based on a review and examination of the case facts, legal issues and relevant applicable case law. - Examine and review accusatory instruments for accuracy, proper charging, and facial sufficiency. - Answer legal questions and review cases drafted by the DAT Unit. - Handle all telephone inquiries from OCA, NYC Police Department, other law enforcement agencies, non-legal city agencies, defense attorneys, and the general public. - Supervise the arraignment parts when necessary.
