Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on trademark, patent, and copyright registration and prosecution before the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL)
- Handle IP infringement cases, opposition proceedings, and cancellation actions
- Draft and negotiate licensing agreements, technology transfer arrangements, and franchise agreements
- Conduct trademark searches, clearance opinions, and freedom-to-operate analyses
- Advise on trade secret protection, data exclusivity, and anti-counterfeiting strategies
- Represent clients in IP disputes before the Bureau of Legal Affairs (BLA) of IPOPHL and Philippine courts
- Manage regional and international IP portfolios in coordination with foreign associates
Requirements
- Admitted to the Philippine Bar with active IBP membership
- 3-6 years of intellectual property law experience
- Strong knowledge of the Intellectual Property Code (RA 8293) and IPOPHL rules and regulations
- Experience in trademark and patent prosecution, IP litigation, and licensing
- J.D. or LL.B. from a recognized Philippine law school; science or engineering background is a plus for patent work
- Excellent English drafting and communication skills
- Familiarity with international IP treaties (Paris Convention, PCT, Madrid Protocol)
