Job Description

Intellectual Property and Technology Lawyer

Baker McKenzie Habib Al Mulla is seeking an IP and Technology Lawyer for our Riyadh office. This role covers trademark and patent protection, technology transactions, and e-commerce regulations in Saudi Arabia.

Role Overview

As Saudi Arabia builds its digital economy under Vision 2030, IP and technology law is becoming increasingly critical. You will advise on trademark and patent registration with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), technology licensing, software agreements, and the rapidly evolving e-commerce regulatory framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage trademark and patent portfolios including filing, prosecution, and enforcement with SAIP
  • Advise on technology licensing, SaaS agreements, and software development contracts
  • Handle IP disputes including trademark infringement and anti-counterfeiting actions
  • Advise on e-commerce regulations, consumer protection law, and digital advertising standards
  • Support M&A transactions involving IP due diligence and IP transfer agreements
  • Advise on AI governance, data ownership, and emerging technology regulations

Requirements

  • LLB from a recognized university; LLM in IP law or technology law preferred
  • 3-6 years of IP and/or technology law experience
  • Knowledge of Saudi IP law, SAIP procedures, and the GCC Trademark Law
  • Experience with technology transactions and e-commerce regulations
  • Fluent in English; Arabic proficiency preferred
