Job Description
NLB — Nova Ljubljanska Banka is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to support our Digital Banking and Innovation team in Ljubljana. NLB is leading the digital transformation of banking in the region, and this role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, finance, and law.
You will advise on the legal framework for digital banking products, open banking under PSD2/PSD3, electronic identification under eIDAS, and data protection under GDPR and the Zakon o varstvu osebnih podatkov (ZVOP-2, Personal Data Protection Act). The role involves close collaboration with product, technology, and compliance teams to launch compliant digital banking services.
Responsibilities
Advise on legal requirements for new digital banking products and payment services. Review terms and conditions, privacy policies, and consent mechanisms for digital channels. Support compliance with PSD2 open banking obligations and strong customer authentication requirements. Advise on electronic identification, e-signatures, and e-contracting under eIDAS and Slovenian law. Research emerging fintech regulation, including MiCA, DORA, and the AI Act implications for banking.
Requirements
Magister prava from a recognized university. 1-3 years of experience in fintech, digital law, or banking regulation. Knowledge of PSD2/PSD3, eIDAS, GDPR, and ZVOP-2 (Personal Data Protection Act). Understanding of open banking, APIs, and digital identity frameworks. Fluent in Slovenian and English.
