Junior Litigation Associate

ZICOlaw is seeking a Junior Litigation Associate for its Johor Bahru office to handle civil, commercial, and cross-border disputes in the southern region. With the development of Iskandar Malaysia and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, the Johor Bahru practice is experiencing significant growth in dispute resolution work.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, witness statements, and written submissions for filing in the Johor Bahru High Court and subordinate courts
• Attend court hearings, case management, and pre-trial conferences
• Assist in commercial disputes including contractual claims, debt recovery, and shareholders' disputes
• Conduct legal research on Malaysian case law and statutes using CLJ Law and LexisNexis Malaysia
• Assist senior lawyers in arbitration proceedings and mediation sessions
• Handle enforcement proceedings including writs of seizure and sale, garnishee orders, and judgment debtor summonses

About This Role

This is an ideal opportunity for a recently-called Advocate and Solicitor who has completed chambering and wants to build a strong litigation practice in Johor Bahru's growing legal market.

• Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya with 0-2 years PQE
• Completed 9-month chambering period at a Malaysian law firm
• Holder of Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) or qualifying certificate from an approved jurisdiction
• LL.B. from a recognised Malaysian or overseas university (University of Malaya, UiTM, IIUM, UKM, or equivalent)
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Willingness to be based in Johor Bahru
