Legal Analyst — Environmental & Energy Compliance
Position Overview
Job Description
PDVSA is seeking a Legal Analyst for its Environmental and Energy Compliance team in Maracaibo. Based near PDVSA's western operations, you will advise on environmental regulatory compliance for petroleum operations in Zulia State.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on compliance with the Organic Environment Law (Ley Orgánica del Ambiente) and Penal Environment Law
- Prepare environmental impact assessments and regulatory filings for petroleum operations
- Handle environmental permitting processes with the Ministry of Popular Power for Eco-Socialism
- Monitor compliance with environmental conditions in operating licences and concession agreements
- Draft environmental compliance reports for PDVSA management
Responsibilities
- Support PDVSA's western operations on environmental legal matters
- Coordinate with environmental consultants on impact assessments
- Track environmental permitting deadlines and compliance obligations
- Participate in environmental audits of petroleum facilities
Requirements
- Law degree (Abogado) from a Venezuelan university; specialisation in Environmental Law preferred
- Registered with the Inpreabogado
- 3-5 years post-qualification experience in environmental law or energy regulatory compliance
- Fluent in Spanish; English proficiency preferred
- Knowledge of Venezuelan environmental legislation and petroleum environmental regulations
Compensation
Bs.S2,500 - Bs.S4,000/year
