Job Description
ANZ Bank New Zealand is hiring a Legal Counsel for its in-house legal team in Auckland. As one of New Zealand's Big Four banks, ANZ NZ serves over 1.5 million customers. You will provide day-to-day legal support for ANZ NZ's retail banking products including home loans, personal loans, KiwiSaver, and deposit products, ensuring compliance with the CCCFA 2003 and Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013.

- Advise on consumer lending product design and compliance with the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003 (CCCFA) and responsible lending obligations
- Review marketing materials, product disclosure statements, and KiwiSaver documentation under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013
- Handle Banking Ombudsman Scheme complaints and Financial Markets Authority (FMA) enquiries
- Advise on Privacy Act 2020 compliance and the Consumer Data Right for open banking initiatives
- Support new product launches and digital banking platform legal reviews
Requirements
- Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand; 3-6 years PQE in banking, consumer credit, or financial services
- Knowledge of CCCFA 2003, FMCA 2013, and AML/CFT Act 2009
- In-house banking experience or financial services regulatory practice preferred
- Commercial and pragmatic approach to risk
