Job Description
Legal Counsel — Retail Banking
The Commercial Bank of Qatar is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its retail banking legal team at the head office on Al Corniche Street, Doha. You will provide legal advice on consumer finance products, mortgage documentation, and regulatory compliance for one of Qatar's leading private-sector banks.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review retail lending documentation including personal loans, auto finance, and credit card agreements
- Advise on residential mortgage products for properties in The Pearl-Qatar, Lusail, and West Bay Lagoon
- Handle customer complaints and disputes referred to Qatar's Consumer Protection Department
- Advise on compliance with Qatar Central Bank consumer protection circulars
- Review digital banking terms and conditions for mobile and online banking services
- Handle debt recovery proceedings for retail accounts before Qatar courts
Responsibilities
- Provide daily legal support to the Retail Banking Division
- Review marketing materials and promotional offers for legal compliance
- Manage relationships with external counsel for retail litigation matters
- Contribute to product development from a legal and regulatory perspective
- Maintain awareness of QCB circulars affecting retail banking
Requirements
- LLB from a recognised university
- 3-5 years PQE in banking legal, consumer finance, or financial services
- Knowledge of Qatar consumer protection laws and QCB regulations
- Bilingual in Arabic and English
- Experience with retail banking products and digital banking legal issues
- Strong drafting and analytical skills
