Job Description
The National Bank of Bahrain is hiring a Legal Officer to join its Credit Legal team in Manama. You will review and draft loan documentation, security agreements, and guarantee instruments for the bank's corporate and retail lending portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review facility agreements, promissory notes, and mortgage instruments
- Advise on credit documentation for conventional and Islamic financing products
- Conduct legal due diligence on borrowers and collateral, including SLRB title searches
- Handle debt recovery proceedings before the Enforcement Court in Manama
- Advise on the Bahrain Law of Commerce (Legislative Decree No. 7 of 1987)
Responsibilities
- Process 30-40 credit files monthly for corporate and retail products
- Liaise with the Credit Risk department on legal opinions
- Manage external counsel for debt recovery matters
- Maintain standard form documentation templates
Requirements
- LLB from a recognised university
- Licensed by the Bahrain Bar Society or eligible for licensing
- 3-5 years post-qualification experience in banking legal or credit documentation
- Bilingual in Arabic and English
- Knowledge of Bahraini secured transactions law and mortgage registration
