Job Description
Legal Policy Officer — Ministry of Justice (Bộ Tư pháp), Ba Dinh District, Hanoi
The Ministry of Justice is seeking a Legal Policy Officer to support the Department of Legislation in reviewing draft laws and normative legal documents. You will contribute to Vietnam's legislative reform programme and the harmonisation of Vietnamese law with international standards.
This is a prestigious government position offering direct involvement in shaping Vietnam's legal framework and policy direction.
Responsibilities
- Review and comment on draft laws and decrees submitted by line ministries
- Prepare policy papers and regulatory impact assessments for proposed legislation
- Coordinate inter-ministerial consultations on draft legal normative documents
- Support Vietnam's legal reform commitments under CPTPP, EVFTA, and RCEP trade agreements
- Represent the Ministry in working groups with the National Assembly's Legal Committee
- Draft reports on the implementation of laws and international legal obligations
Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience in legal policy, legislative drafting, or government legal advisory
- Strong knowledge of the Law on Promulgation of Legal Normative Documents 2015 (amended 2020)
- Understanding of Vietnam's legal system, National Assembly procedures, and inter-ministerial coordination
- Experience with legal harmonisation or WTO/CPTPP compliance analysis
- Cử nhân Luật from a recognised university; postgraduate qualification preferred
- Fluent Vietnamese; good English for international cooperation work
