Litigation Associate

Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill is seeking a Litigation Associate for its Penang practice. The role involves handling civil and commercial litigation, judicial review applications, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings in Penang and the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, submissions, and affidavits for filing in the Penang High Court, Sessions Court, and Magistrates' Court
• Appear in court for case management, interlocutory applications, trials, and assessment of damages hearings
• Handle commercial disputes including breach of contract, shareholders' disputes, and banking recovery matters
• Conduct judicial review applications against government decisions and administrative actions
• Manage mediation and arbitration proceedings under AIAC rules and the Mediation Act 2012
• Advise clients on litigation strategy, costs, and risk assessment

• Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya with 2-4 years PQE in litigation or dispute resolution
• Experience appearing before the Penang High Court or other Malaysian courts
• Strong knowledge of the Rules of Court 2012, Evidence Act 1950, and Contracts Act 1950
• LL.B. from a recognised university; CLP holder with completed chambering
• Excellent advocacy, legal writing, and research skills
• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin or Hokkien is an advantage for the Penang market
• Willingness to be based in Penang
