Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Labour Statutory Compliance Manager to oversee end-to-end labour law compliance across the WM IDC. The role involves ensuring adherence to all applicable labour laws, managing audits and inspections, handling stakeholder and vendor relationships, and providing strategic advisory support to leadership.
KRA:
1. Labour Law Compliance Management:
- Manage end-to-end labour statutory compliance lifecycle including:
- Registrations, renewals, amendments, and surrenders
- Filing of statutory returns and maintenance of registers
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws and regulations, including new labour codes
- Monitor compliance status across locations and ensure timely closure of gaps
2. Audit & Inspection Management
- Lead internal compliance audits
- Lead vendor compliance audits
- Prepare and maintain audit documentation and reports
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and compliance gaps
3. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders (People, E-crew, GSIS, ADE, TA & Finance)
- Manage compliance activities of third-party vendors and contractors
- Provide guidance and ensure vendors adhere to statutory requirements
- Conduct vendor compliance reviews and periodic audits
4. Labour Authorities & Issue Handling
- Handle interactions with Labour Officers and Government Authorities
- Represent the organization in labour-related matters and inspections
- Manage employee/labour-related grievances and issues in compliance with legal requirements
- Manage labour inspections, liaise with labour authorities, and ensure smooth handling of inspections
5. Advisory & Governance Support
- Provide expert advisory support to:
- People Partners
- Ethics Committee
- Leadership Team
- Interpret labour laws and provide actionable guidance for business decisions
- Stay updated on changes in labour laws and new labour codes, and drive implementation
6. Compliance Monitoring & Reporting
- Develop compliance dashboards and reports for leadership
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping
- Identify compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies
7. Process Improvement & Training
- Drive standardization and improvement of compliance processes
- Conduct training sessions for internal teams and vendors on statutory compliance
- Promote a culture of compliance across the organization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, HR, or related field
- Master’s degree / specialization in Labour Laws or HR ( MBA preferred)
Experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience in labour statutory compliance
- Proven experience in handling multi-location compliance operations
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Indian Labour Laws & New Labour Codes
- Expertise in compliance lifecycle management (registration to returns)
- Experience in audit handling and labour inspections
- Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive associate/labour issues
- High attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
