You will manage patent prosecution, litigation, and strategic portfolio development for Novartis's innovative medicines and advanced therapies pipeline.
What You Will Do
- Manage patent prosecution before the EPO, USPTO, and other major patent offices
- Develop patent strategies for novel drug compounds, biologics, and gene therapies
- Support patent litigation in the Federal Patent Court (Bundespatentgericht) and international jurisdictions
- Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and invalidity assessments
- Advise on SPC (Supplementary Protection Certificate) applications and patent term extensions
Responsibilities
- Manage patent portfolios for assigned therapeutic areas
- Draft and prosecute patent applications worldwide
- Support patent litigation and coordinate with outside counsel
- Provide strategic IP advice to R&D and business development teams
- Monitor competitor patent activity and Freedom-to-Operate landscape
Requirements
- Swiss patent attorney qualification or European Patent Attorney (EQE) preferred
- Advanced degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, or related life sciences
- 5-8 years of pharmaceutical patent experience
- Strong knowledge of EPO case law and Swiss Patent Act
- Fluent in English; German is required for Swiss proceedings
- Experience with biologics and cell/gene therapy patents is an advantage
Compensation
CHF19,000 - CHF26,000/year
