Job Description
The UN Economic Commission for Africa's Trade Policy Centre seeks a Remote Legal Researcher to support its work on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The researcher will analyze trade dispute resolution mechanisms, rules of origin, and trade facilitation legal frameworks. This remote role offers flexibility while contributing to Africa's largest trade integration initiative.

Responsibilities
Research legal issues arising from AfCFTA implementation including dispute settlement and rules of origin. Draft research papers and policy briefs on trade law harmonization. Analyze trade facilitation legislation across African countries. Support technical assistance to AfCFTA State Parties on legal and institutional frameworks.
Requirements
LLB/LLM with focus on international trade law, WTO law, or regional integration. 2-5 years research experience in trade law or policy. Published research or policy papers preferred. Knowledge of AfCFTA protocols, EAC Customs Union, and COMESA treaties.
Compensation
KSh300,000 - KSh500,000/month
