As Senior Analyst, Global Trade Compliance here at Illumina, you will play a critical role in supporting and strengthening our regional trade compliance operations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). This role ensures adherence to international trade regulations, import/export controls, customs requirements and sanctions frameworks, while enabling efficient and compliant global trade operations.You will partner closely with cross‑functional teams including Logistics, Legal, Procurement, Sales and Supply Chain, as well as third‑party logistics providers and customs brokers. As part of Illumina’s global trade compliance organisation, you will collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to align local practices with corporate policies and standards, supporting Illumina’s mission to unlock the power of the genome to improve human health.Why You
You are an experienced trade compliance professional with strong knowledge of EMEA import/export regulations, customs requirements and export controls. You are comfortable working independently, exercising sound judgement and advising stakeholders on complex compliance matters. You bring a proactive, detail‑oriented mindset, strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and functions.Fluent English is essential.Dutch and/or another European or Middle Eastern language is a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of regional trade compliance programmes across EMEA
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, customs laws, sanctions and trade controls
- Partner with internal teams and external customs brokers to support compliant cross‑border transactions
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess business impact across EMEA jurisdictions
- Support audits, compliance assessments and corrective action initiatives
- Investigate and resolve customs and trade‑related issues, including shipment holds and documentation discrepancies
- Prepare compliance reports, metrics and documentation for management and regulatory purposes
- Support process improvements, automation and digitalisation initiatives within trade compliance operations
- Assist with trade compliance training and awareness activities
- Collaborate with global trade compliance teams to align regional practices with corporate policies
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, Law, Finance or a related field
- 5+ years’ experience in trade compliance, customs, import/export operations or global trade management
- Strong understanding of EMEA customs regulations, export controls, sanctions and international trade requirements
- Practical experience with tariff classification, customs valuation, origin determination and customs broker management
- Familiarity with EU dual‑use regulations, UK export controls and sanctions compliance frameworks preferred
- Experience working within multinational or matrix organisations
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP/system knowledge (SAP GTS preferred)
- Professional certifications (e.g. customs broker licence or trade compliance certification) are a plus

The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. This salary range applies to the primary posting location listed above. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range will be updated accordingly. Compensation ranges for other locations will differ to reflect local market competitiveness and will be shared with candidates if applicable during the recruitment process.

Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
