Senior Associate — Commercial Litigation

Herbert Smith Freehills is seeking a Senior Associate for its market-leading Dispute Resolution practice at 161 Castlereagh Street in Sydney's legal precinct, near the NSW Supreme Court and Land and Environment Court. You will run complex commercial disputes, class actions, and regulatory investigations for major Australian and international clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage large-scale commercial disputes in the Federal Court and Supreme Court of NSW
• Lead preparation for hearings including witness statements, submissions, and discovery
• Advise on class action defence (Part IVA Federal Court of Australia Act 1976)
• Handle Royal Commission and regulatory investigation responses for ASIC and ACCC matters
• Supervise teams of associates and paralegals on large matters

Requirements

• Admitted as a solicitor in NSW; 5-8 years PQE in commercial litigation
• Experience with Federal Court and Supreme Court proceedings
• Strong advocacy, drafting, and analytical skills
• Experience in class actions or regulatory investigations highly regarded
