Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Employment Counsel based in India.

This role is a key legal position focused on providing strategic and practical employment law guidance within a global, fast-paced, and highly distributed organization. You will advise internal stakeholders on a wide range of employment matters across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance while enabling business growth in an Employer-of-Record (EOR) environment. The position involves drafting and negotiating employment-related agreements, managing cross-border legal risks, and supporting client onboarding and offboarding activities. You will play a critical role in interpreting evolving labor laws across APAC and beyond, translating complex legal frameworks into clear, actionable guidance. This is a highly collaborative role that interfaces with HR, compliance, sales, and client-facing teams. It is ideal for a commercially minded legal professional who thrives in a global, people-centric, and dynamic work environment.

Accountabilities:

    • Provide legal counsel on employment law matters including contracts, benefits, terminations, restructurings, and workplace policies within an EOR framework.
    • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, separation agreements, and related legal documentation across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Monitor and interpret employment law developments across APAC and other regions, ensuring proactive compliance and risk mitigation.
    • Support client onboarding and offboarding by assessing country-specific legal risks and providing practical employment guidance.
    • Manage and coordinate with external counsel on employment-related disputes and litigation in a cost-effective manner.
    • Partner with HR, compliance, sales, and operations teams to provide strategic legal input on day-to-day and complex employment matters.
    • Deliver training and legal guidance to internal stakeholders on employment law topics and regulatory updates.
    • Requirements:

      • Qualified lawyer licensed to practice in an APAC jurisdiction and in good standing.
      • 4+ years of experience in employment law, ideally combining law firm and in-house exposure.
      • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations across APAC jurisdictions, with ability to track and interpret legal changes.
      • Experience drafting and negotiating employment contracts and HR-related legal documentation in domestic and international contexts.
      • Strong ability to work independently across multiple jurisdictions in a remote, global environment.
      • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including HR, legal, compliance, and business stakeholders.
      • Exposure to Employer-of-Record (EOR) environments is a strong advantage.
      • Excellent communication skills, with strong business acumen and client-facing capability.
      • Strong analytical thinking with ability to provide clear, practical, and risk-aware legal advice.
      • Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
      • Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-changing global regulatory environment.
      • Benefits:

        • Opportunity to work in a global, borderless organization supporting international workforce expansion.
        • Flexible remote working environment with global collaboration across multiple time zones.
        • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and market standards.
        • Country-specific benefits depending on location.
        • Flexible paid time off, including additional personal and volunteer days.
        • Generous parental leave program.
        • Learning and development opportunities through global training platforms.
        • Inclusive and diverse work culture focused on people, collaboration, and impact.
        • Exposure to complex cross-border employment law and strategic global HR operations.
