Role Overview — Senior Principal/ Lead, Forensic Technology & Data Retention Compliance
We are seeking a seasoned leader specializing in forensic technology, eDiscovery, and data retention compliance. In this role, you will architect and execute enterprise-wide processes that ensure compliance with global regulatory standards while leveraging advanced forensic and eDiscovery methodologies. You will partner closely with Legal, IT, InfoSec, and business teams to drive defensible data management practices, mitigate risks, and strengthen compliance integrity.
What You Will Do
Forensic Technology & eDiscovery
- Lead deployment and hands-on use of eDiscovery and forensic tools (e.g., keyword search frameworks, advanced filtering, metadata analysis, structured/unstructured data review).
- Execute forensic investigations and targeted data collections across cloud and on‑prem environments in line with legal, regulatory, and internal guidelines.
- Conduct defensible identification, preservation, and extraction of electronically stored information (ESI).
- Collaborate with IT/InfoSec to enhance forensic tool capabilities and maintain chain‑of‑custody standards.
Data Retention Strategy & Frameworks
- Design, implement, and continuously refine a robust global data retention and defensible disposition framework.
- Translate regulatory requirements (privacy, financial reporting, industry mandates) into clear, actionable retention rules and workflows.
- Oversee enterprise data lifecycle management processes, ensuring alignment with legal and compliance expectations.
Compliance Monitoring & Risk Detection
- Perform analytics-driven compliance monitoring using forensic review techniques to identify anomalies, non‑compliance patterns, unauthorized data storage, or policy deviations.
- Direct remediation initiatives with business and technical stakeholders, ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Build dashboards and reporting mechanisms that surface insights, risk signals, and compliance trends to senior leadership.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Legal, Information Security, and business teams to integrate new regulations, litigation needs, and audit findings into the compliance and monitoring ecosystem.
- Guide the organization on eDiscovery readiness and best practices for defensible data management.
Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver training for technical and non-technical teams on:
- data retention policies
- responsible data usage
- eDiscovery protocols
- forensic review practices
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Law, Accountancy, Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field
- 12+ years of experience in forensic technology, information governance, and eDiscovery operations
- Deep understanding of global regulatory requirements (e.g., privacy laws, data retention mandates)
- Hands-on experience with eDiscovery platforms, forensic investigation tools, and data analytics techniques
- Expertise in metadata review, keyword selection strategies, data filtering, and structured/unstructured data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest discretion
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to independently lead investigations and compliance initiatives across IT, Legal, and business teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPT, CEDS, CFCE, EnCE, or IG certifications
- Experience with forensic technology tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Nuix, Relativity, OpenText, O365 Purview)
- Background in information lifecycle management systems and data governance technologies
- Project management experience leading compliance, investigative, or risk‑focused initiatives
- Experience working in global, fast-paced, multilingual environments
- Technical familiarity with cloud environments, data storage architectures, and security controls
Type of Work Model
Hybrid work model: Employees are required to work in the office at least 3 days per week, with flexibility to work from home 2 days per week (role-dependent). Some teams may require more in-office time based on business needs.
