Job Description

Tax Lawyer - VAT and Zakat Compliance

White & Case LLP Riyadh is looking for a Tax Lawyer specializing in Saudi VAT, Zakat, and international tax structuring to join our growing tax practice in the Kingdom.

Role Overview

Saudi Arabia's tax landscape has evolved dramatically since the introduction of VAT in 2018 and ongoing reforms by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA). You will advise multinational and domestic clients on VAT compliance, Zakat optimization, transfer pricing, and the tax implications of cross-border transactions and Vision 2030 investments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on Saudi VAT compliance, registration, and return filing obligations
  • Provide Zakat planning and advisory services for Saudi and GCC-owned businesses
  • Advise on transfer pricing regulations and country-by-country reporting requirements
  • Structure cross-border investments to optimize withholding tax and treaty benefits
  • Represent clients in disputes with ZATCA, including objections and appeals before the Tax Violation and Dispute Resolution Committees
  • Advise on tax incentives for investments in special economic zones (NEOM, KAEC, Ras Al-Khair)

Requirements

  • LLB/JD from a recognized university; LLM in tax law, or CPA/SOCPA qualification preferred
  • 4-8 years of tax law experience, including at least 2 years in Saudi Arabia or GCC
  • Strong knowledge of Saudi VAT regulations, Zakat rules, and ZATCA procedures
  • Experience with transfer pricing and international tax structuring
  • Familiarity with double tax treaties involving Saudi Arabia
  • Fluent in English; Arabic proficiency preferred
