Job Description

TMT & Data Privacy In-House Counsel — CYTA, Nicosia

CYTA (Cyprus Telecommunications Authority), the island's leading telecommunications provider, is seeking In-House Counsel specialising in Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) and data privacy law. Based at CYTA's headquarters in Nicosia, you will advise on GDPR compliance, electronic communications regulation, and technology contracts under the Processing of Personal Data (Protection of the Individual) Law (L.125(I)/2018) and the Electronic Communications Law.

CYTA is Cyprus's largest telecom operator providing fixed-line, mobile, and broadband services. This role combines cutting-edge data privacy work with telecoms regulatory expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on GDPR compliance including data processing agreements, privacy notices, and records of processing activities
  • Handle data subject access requests, data breach notifications to the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection
  • Review and draft technology contracts, SaaS agreements, and IT procurement documents
  • Advise on electronic communications regulatory compliance with OCECPR
  • Support the Data Protection Officer on DPIA assessments and compliance audits
  • Advise on net neutrality obligations, spectrum licensing, and universal service requirements

Requirements

  • Enrolled member of the Cyprus Bar Association
  • 3-6 years' PQE in data protection, TMT, or regulatory law
  • Strong knowledge of the GDPR, L.125(I)/2018, ePrivacy Directive, and the Electronic Communications and Postal Services Law
  • Experience advising on data protection impact assessments, data breach notifications, and GDPR compliance programmes
  • Understanding of OCECPR (Office of the Commissioner of Electronic Communications) regulatory framework
  • Fluent Greek and English; CIPP/E certification is an advantage
