Litigation Associate

Torys LLP is hiring a Litigation Associate for its highly regarded Litigation & Dispute Resolution group at 79 Wellington Street West in Toronto's Financial District. You will handle high-stakes commercial litigation matters before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and draft facta, motions, and written arguments for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice
• Represent clients at examinations for discovery and pre-trial conferences
• Manage complex commercial litigation files involving shareholder disputes, contract claims, and securities class actions
• Appear before the Ontario Court of Appeal and prepare leave applications to the Supreme Court of Canada
• Advise on alternative dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration

Requirements

• Called to the Bar in Ontario (LSO member in good standing)
• 3-5 years post-call experience in commercial litigation
• JD or LLB from a recognized Canadian law school
• Strong oral advocacy and legal writing skills
• Experience with class actions or securities litigation preferred
