Internship Description

Regulatory Trainee – Financial Supervision

The CSSF on Route d'Arlon in Luxembourg City offers a traineeship in its Financial Supervision department. This is a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience in prudential supervision at one of Europe's most important financial regulators.

As a trainee, you will assist legal officers with bank licensing applications, fund authorisations, and ongoing supervisory activities for Luxembourg's diverse financial sector. The CSSF actively participates in ESMA, EBA, and EIOPA working groups, providing exposure to EU-level regulatory policy.

What You Will Do

  • Assist with review of bank and PSF licensing applications
  • Support fund supervision teams on UCITS and AIF regulatory matters
  • Research Luxembourg and EU financial regulation developments
  • Draft summaries of CSSF decisions and regulatory guidance
  • Assist with preparations for ESMA and EBA peer review exercises

Responsibilities

  • Support supervisory teams on licensing and ongoing supervision matters
  • Conduct legal research on financial regulation topics
  • Draft regulatory analysis memoranda and decision summaries
  • Attend internal training and supervisory meetings
  • Complete assigned regulatory research projects

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or recently completed Master in Law at a recognised European university
  • Strong interest in financial regulation and prudential supervision
  • Knowledge of Luxembourg financial regulation and EU supervisory frameworks
  • Fluent in English and French; German or Luxembourgish is an advantage
  • EU/EEA citizenship preferred for public sector role
  • Strong analytical and legal writing skills
