Senior Advokat – Energy & Utilities

Bech-Bruun's Aarhus office is seeking a Senior Advokat for its Energy and Utilities practice. Aarhus, Denmark's second city and a major university town, is a hub for energy companies and utilities serving the Jutland peninsula. The office works on landmark energy infrastructure projects and advises utility companies on the complex Danish regulatory framework.

You will advise energy companies, utility providers, and municipalities on energy regulation, district heating, wind farm development, and the Danish green transition strategy.

What You Will Do

  • Advise energy companies on the Energiforsyningsloven and sector-specific regulation
  • Handle district heating regulatory matters and tariff disputes with the Danish Utility Regulator (Forsyningstilsynet)
  • Advise on onshore wind and solar project permitting and grid connection
  • Support municipal energy company structuring and governance
  • Advise on the EU Green Deal and Fit for 55 implementation in Danish energy law
  • Handle energy sector disputes and regulatory proceedings

Responsibilities

  • Lead energy regulatory and transactional mandates
  • Advise utility companies on compliance and tariff regulation
  • Handle energy sector disputes and regulatory proceedings
  • Advise on green transition projects and policy developments
  • Contribute to the Aarhus office's business development

Requirements

  • Danish Bar admission (advokat) required
  • Cand.jur. from Aarhus University, University of Copenhagen, or Aalborg University
  • 7-10 years of experience in Danish energy law or utilities regulation
  • Knowledge of the Energiforsyningsloven, Varmeforsyningsloven (Heat Supply Act), and VE-loven
  • Fluent in Danish and English
  • Experience advising municipal energy companies is an advantage
