Job Description
Legal Counsel — Aviation & Commercial Contracts
Qatar Airways Group is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Legal Division at the Qatar Airways Tower near Hamad International Airport, Doha. You will advise on aviation regulatory matters, aircraft leasing, and commercial contracts for one of the world's leading airlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on compliance with Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) regulations and ICAO standards
- Draft and negotiate aircraft operating lease agreements, MRO contracts, and code-share agreements
- Handle air traffic rights negotiations and bilateral air service agreement (BASA) analysis
- Advise on compliance with the Montreal Convention and Warsaw Convention obligations
- Support fleet financing transactions including sale-and-leaseback structures and EETC documentation
- Advise on oneworld alliance matters and joint venture arrangements with partner airlines
Responsibilities
- Manage Qatar Airways' commercial contract portfolio across multiple jurisdictions
- Coordinate with the QCAA on regulatory compliance matters
- Advise HR on employment law matters under Qatar Labour Law for cabin crew and ground staff
- Support corporate governance matters for Qatar Airways Group subsidiaries
- Advise on competition law compliance including antitrust immunised joint ventures
Requirements
- 7+ years PQE in aviation law, commercial contracts, or transportation law
- Experience with aircraft financing, leasing, or aviation regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of the Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol
- Qualified in a common law or civil law jurisdiction
- Fluent English essential; Arabic and/or French advantageous
- Willingness to be based in Doha with some international travel
