Job Description
Safaricom, East Africa's largest telecommunications company, is hiring a Legal Officer to strengthen its compliance and corporate governance function. The role supports regulatory compliance across telecoms licensing, data protection (Kenya Data Protection Act 2019), competition law, and M-Pesa financial services regulations.
Responsibilities
Monitor regulatory developments and advise business units on compliance obligations. Draft and review data processing agreements and privacy impact assessments. Support board and committee governance processes. Liaise with Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), and Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK).
Requirements
LLB from a recognized university. Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. 3-5 years in-house legal experience, preferably in telecoms, fintech, or technology. Knowledge of Kenya Data Protection Act, Competition Act, and Kenya Information and Communications Act.
Compensation
KSh250,000 - KSh450,000/month
