Job Description
UNHCR Kenya seeks a legal officer to provide legal support in refugee status determination, protection interventions, and durable solutions programming. Kenya hosts over 500,000 refugees in Dadaab and Kakuma camps.
Responsibilities
Conduct refugee status determination interviews. Provide legal counselling to persons of concern. Monitor detention conditions and advocate for refugee rights. Coordinate with UNHCR partners on legal assistance programmes.
Requirements
LLB or LLM degree. 3+ years in refugee law, human rights, or humanitarian law. Knowledge of the Refugees Act 2021 and international refugee law. Willingness to travel to Dadaab and Kakuma.
