Position Overview
Job Description
Al-Tamimi's Baghdad office is seeking a Construction & Infrastructure Lawyer to advise on Iraq's massive reconstruction and infrastructure development program, including housing projects, roads, bridges, airports, and power generation facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on FIDIC-based construction contracts and EPC agreements for Iraqi projects
- Handle construction disputes including delay claims, variation orders, and defects liability
- Advise on Iraqi government procurement and public-private partnership (PPP) frameworks
- Support project finance transactions for infrastructure development
- Handle arbitration proceedings related to construction disputes
- Advise on contractor licensing and registration with Iraqi government ministries
Requirements
- Law degree; Iraqi Bar admission or international qualification
- 4-8 years of construction and infrastructure law experience
- Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and international construction law
- Experience with Iraqi government procurement regulations
- Arabic and English fluency with strong drafting skills
- Arbitration or dispute resolution experience preferred
