Job Description
Protection Officer - Legal — Danish Refugee Council, Diyala
Danish Refugee Council is hiring a Protection Officer - Legal for Diyala/Baqubah. The role provides legal aid services, including information, counselling, assistance, and representation to people served by DRC's protection programming.
The post also supports legal case data, referrals, service quality, and capacity building for legal protection activities in the field.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal information, counselling, representation, and documentation support in line with DRC Iraq SOPs
- Support civil documentation work through relevant Civil Affairs Directorates
- Maintain legal case files and legal databases with safe information-management practices
- Coordinate with legal entities, local government institutions, NGOs, community leaders, and service providers
- Train and supervise Protection Assistants and support community legal awareness activities
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant legal-sector experience, including personal status law, labor law, or workers' rights
- University degree in Law and membership in the Iraqi Bar Association
- Experience or familiarity with internally displaced people, returnees, refugees, or other persons of concern
- Fluency in Arabic; ability to communicate and write in English
- Strong confidentiality, problem-solving, and communication skills
